Queen’s House (Kelso) Ltd provides accommodation in three separate Houses.

Queen’s House was designed and constructed to accommodate and provide the features required in a modern nursing home, with 32 single bedrooms all on the ground floor with en-suite facilities.

Murray House was opened in December 2018 providing 18 places to care for people with Dementia.

Evanthea House provides 9 places to care for people with cognitive impairment and opened in June 2019.

All three houses are serviced by a central kitchen and in-house laundry facility and business support team.

At Queen’s House our Activities Co-ordinator Hazel organises a rich and varied program of events, where all residents are encouraged to participate to promote health and well-being.  The weekly program will include a local harpist, historians, various musicians and singing groups, gardening, various crafts, trips to the garden centre in addition to many seasonal activities such as a Christmas, Easter and Summer Fayre.

One of the highlights of the year is the annual visit of the Kelso Laddie each July reminding residents of local traditions. Residents are regular prize winners at the local Border Union Show in the Arts and Crafts classes.

In our Place and Space facility we offer community based activities daily including a regular tea-dance which is always well attended.

The catering and house-keeping functions at Queen’s House  has a team of 30 staff ensuring our residents are suitable nourished and the fabric of the three houses are suitable maintained.

Queen’s House is noted for its nutritious and appetising meals, all cooked in-house from locally sourced ingredients where possible. Residents have the option of eating in one of our various dining rooms, an important social gathering, or dining in privacy.  We also provide meals relatives on request, and for day visitors to our community based Place and Space facility.  It is often the case that residents can put on weight after a spell in Queen’s House, our carefully balanced menu enables residents to maintain a healthy diet.
